Prof. Jinfeng Jia began his scientific research career as a PhD student of physics at Peking University in 1987. He moved to Institute of High Energy Physics of CAS as a postdoc after he got his Ph.D. in 1992. He continued his postdoc career in the Institute for Materials Research, Tohoku University, Japan during 1995-1996. Then he joined the department of physics, Peking University as an associate professor. From 1998 to 2001, Prof. Jia spent 3 years in US (University of Florida, UNC Chapel Hill, Indiana University at Bloomington) as a postdoc/visiting scientist. In 2001, he came back to the Institute of Physics of CAS as a professor supported by “the Hundred Talents Program”. In 2006, he became a professor at the department physics, Tsinghua University. In 2009, he moved to Shanghai Jiaotong University as a distinguished professor. He obtainedthe National Award for Natural Sciences by the State Council of the People’s Republic of China twice (2004 and 2011, Second class Prize), 2011 Collective Award for the Outstanding Scientific and Technical Achievement from Hong Kong Qiu Shi Science and Technologies Foundation.
