INS Colloquium 01

Title: Positive and negative regulation in the development of nerve cell branching

Speaker: Le Ma, Assistant Professor at Zilkha Neurogenetic Institute of University of Southern California

Time and place: Nov. 14th, 16:00- 17:00pm, 601 Pao Yue-Kong Library

Abstract:

Nerve cell branching is an important component of complex neural circuits. My research focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying the development of axonal and dendritic branches. I will describe two molecular cues that we have identified that are critical to developing axon bifurcation and dendritic arbor. I will discuss how these cues might be used to construct diverse branch shape and pattern.
